ABOUT ME & MY APPROACH
I am a fully accredited counsellor with a graduate diploma in counselling and psychotherapy from the Dublin Counselling and Therapy Centre. I also hold a diploma in addiction studies and is currently working towards a masters degree in counselling and psychotherapy. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years in homeless services.
As a counsellor I work in a humanistic and integrative way. This means I trust in your ability to find your own way through issues, that you are the expert on you and that you know what is best for your own growth as a person. I aim to support and facilitate this process.
My hope is that, through my work with you in counselling, you will be able to move towards a greater sense of well-being and connection, to yourself and others. I aim to do this by providing you with a place of safety and containment where you can begin to risk exploring difficult, perhaps scary, or unknown parts of yourself. By meeting these parts of yourself with understanding, empathy and compassion, I believe that they can begin to be transformed. This is a process that we both contribute to and grows out of the therapeutic relationship we form together. I hope that our work together will also help you to develop, or rediscover, resources and tools that will support you to meet life’s challenges, both internal and external, in a more adept and skilful way.
